About
Written by two people who live it.
Homer & Mae is Jason and Desiree, a husband and wife.
We write about health as a form of care, gratitude that is lived rather than performed, and a life that leaves room for what matters.
Homer and Mae are names drawn from our family. We approach family not as an ideal, but as the steady work of showing up for one another and for ourselves—without turning care into a display. Homer & Mae is a personal brand for living well.
The journal contains short notes on the body, the table, the weather, and the ordinary choices that shape a day. The practices are three things small enough to keep: nourish yourself thoughtfully, share the table, and stand in the weather.
We are against a version of wellness that never rests—more tracking, more guilt, more proof of becoming someone better. We are for what can actually be sustained: one nourishing turn, one shared table, one step outside.
What are we good at? We are good at being intentional. Being real, fueling ourselves, stripping down the noise and being. Finding things we like and making them in our home, with good ingredients. Knowing when to say no. We are good at practicing what makes us feel good and what our bodies and minds crave. We are good at honest conversations and being real, admitting when we're wrong, and laughing, a lot.

If you would like to follow along, begin with a piece in the journal, try one practice, or request the occasional notes. You are welcome to write anytime; we read what is sent.
