Move without punishment

The body is not a project. It is the place you live.

So much of wellness is spoken in the language of correction. Burn. Earn. Undo last night. The body hears all of it.

There is another way, which is simply to move because you live here. Walk because the air is good. Stretch because sleep left you stiff. Lift something because strength makes the rest of the day less sharp.

You do not need a new identity to do this. You need a pair of shoes by the door, and a promise that is small enough to keep on a bad Tuesday.

If you have been harsh with yourself, let this be the season you stop using exercise as an apology. Sweat can still be honest. It does not have to be a verdict.

Health, in this house, is not a before-and-after. It is the long work of treating the body as a companion. Take it outside. Give it water. Thank it for carrying you, even when you forget to ask.
